Benefit Concert, September 18, 1977

The Chorale held a benefit concert to raise funds for music purchases and operational expenses.

 

Fall Concert, December 2 and 3, 1977

The Fall concert offered a wonderful selection of holiday music; Komm, Jesu, Komm by J. S. Bach, Francis Poulenc’s Motets for the Season of Christmas, and Laud to the Nativity, by Ottorino Respighi. A chamber orchestra accompanied the concert that included strings, organ, woodwind and percussion.

Messiah Sing-Along, March 12, 1978IM

The Chorale hosted a community Messiah sing-along that included the Eastern portions of Handel’s masterpiece.

Spring Concert, April 29 and 30, 1978

One of the featured works of the concert was Avodath Hakodesh (Sacred Service) written by Ernest Bloch. The composition has the distinction of being the first choral work on a large scale written for Jewish worship. Baritone Gregory Fowler and soprano Ann Turner Bunnell sang the solo parts during the concert.
