The Youth Ensemble was formed to:
- serve as a bridge between the Children's Chorus and the Rogue Valley Chorale,
- to give young men with changing voices a place to sing,
- to perform quality SATB literature appropriate for middle and high school aged students.

Pam Nordquist is the founding director of the Rogue Valley Youth Ensemble and also conducts the Cantare Chorus(formerly the Childrens Chorus). She enjoyed teaching elementary and middle school music for 20 years in Kansas and Oregon public schools. She is currently teaching choir at South Medford High School, and is the Repertoire and Standards State Chair for Junior High and Middle School Choirs in the Oregon American Choral Directors Association.
Accompanist for the Youth Ensemble is Sharon Dady.
Rehearsal assistants for the Youth Ensemble sing with the group during rehearsal and performance to provide models for the developing tenors and baritones in the group. The rehearsal assistants are Ralph Dady and Pete Nordquist.
